Information Center Heavy Load-Bearing Body

Informationsort Schwerbelastungskörper

The “Information Center Heavy Load-Bearing Body“ was handed over to the public in 2009 as a project of the Federal Government’s and the (German) state’s program Urban Restructuring West. The Heavy Load-Bearing Body carries importance beyond the region as a direct reminder of the national socialist urban planning concepts for Berlin.

On location, three steles inform visitors about the history of the place, a viewing platform lets the visitors experience the dimensions of the former urban planning concept, a pavilion serves the purpose of assisting visitors and offering space for seminars. These offers were realized in cooperation between the borough Tempelhof-Schöneberg and the Society Berliner Unterwelten e.V..

Current note: For safety reasons, the interior of the heavy-duty body can currently only be accessed via a pedestrian tunnel.
